I realized I may have been stretching my resume in some areas and I'm very concerned about how much trouble I'm putting myself in. So I went about revising some key points from the original resume, to assure accuracy. Here are the points and details, and I'm curious how badly I might have shot myself in the foot with my original resume:
ORIGINAL: "Sales Representative (May, 2006 August, 2008)" REVISED: "Sales Representative (September, 2006 August, 2008)" EXPLANATION: I unofficially took over the role and all responsbilities starting in May 2006, covering for a Sales Rep who went on leave and never returned. Simultaneously, I was doing my other job with the same company. I wasn't officially hired for the position until September, 2006.
ORIGINAL: "Increased sales by over 200% in first year, from approx. $200,000 to approx. $410,000." REVISED: "Exceeded Sales Goal by over 162% in first year, bringing in approximately $410,000. Previous year was under $200,000." EXPLANATION: As the previous year (2006) was under $200k in Sales and my year (2007) was over $400k, I technically did increase sales by over 200%.
ORIGINAL: "Recent accomplishment: Exceeded $110k Sales Goal of most important publication, December 2009" REVISED: "Recent accomplishment: Over $100k in Sales for Publication with highest Sales Goal, December 2009" EXPLANATION: The Sales Goal for this publication in November 2009 was $110k. I was JUST under it.
ADDITIONAL CONCERN IN CURRENT RESUME: "In 2008, received award for #1 Sales Representative of the Year in Leading Sales Division in Company" EXPLANATION: The award was for Sales in 2007, but I actually recieved the award in early 2008.
