My position as Manager of Network Services was eliminated due to a decision to outsource my team. I had a 6 figure income. I've been out of work for almost six months. Network Management jobs are scarce. I'm now considering taking an individual contributor position at a significantly lower salary. With this, I am considering returning to school to earn a Bachelors degree and pick up a few cisco certs. I'm thinking that after a few years working as a WAN engineer (the position I am accepting), I will be able get closer to my former salary. I believe that as a certified WAN engineer I'd be much more marketable than as a Network Manager. I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks!
