Just what part of the technology field are you trying to get in to? Location makes a HUGE difference for tech as it tends to clump around Colleges, Universities and "tech centers" set up by local or regional governments. If you're having trouble finding something in your area you may need to cast a wider net.
Also, don't rely on available listings, contact companies who are doing work which you really connect with in some specific way. Try to talk to someone in their HR department about what they and their peers are looking for. If you can find someone who'll let you bend their ear for five minutes they will most likely give you better and more specific advice than I could ever give.
And of course, as with any job search, NETWORK! Tell absolutely every person you know that you want to get into X and ask them if they know anyone who works in that field. It's sad but true that nepotism still plays a huge role in the hiring process and knowing someone on the inside always raises your chances.
Best of luck! Alden
